Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam (கலைஞர் மகளிர் உரிமைத் தொகை திட்டம்) is a flagship welfare scheme launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the DMK government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The scheme provides ₹1,000 per month directly to eligible women who are heads of their families.

Named after former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi (Kalaignar), the scheme aims to promote women's financial independence and support low-income households across Tamil Nadu. The amount is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account every month.

You'll need a ration card for this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, you must meet all of the following conditions:

4. I already receive an old-age pension. Can I still apply?

If you are receiving less than ₹1,000/month from another government pension scheme, you may be eligible for the difference amount. If you already receive ₹1,000 or more, you are not eligible for this scheme.

5. My ration card shows my husband as the head of family. What should I do?
