What to Do After Results
If You Passed
- Collect your original marksheet and pass certificate from your school.
- Download digitally signed copies from DigiLocker.
- If you need a Migration Certificate (for changing boards or moving to another state), apply through your school. The school forwards the request to the CBSE regional office.
- Start your admission process for the next level of education.
- Check if you are eligible for scholarships โ see our National Scholarship Portal Guide.
If You Got Compartment
A compartment means you have failed in one or two subjects but can appear for a supplementary exam.
- Class 10: Compartment is given if you fail in 1 or 2 subjects (out of 5 main subjects).
- Class 12: Compartment is given if you fail in 1 subject only.
- CBSE conducts the compartment exam usually within 2โ3 months of the main result.
- You need to apply through your school within the deadline announced by CBSE.
- If you pass the compartment exam, your result is treated as a regular pass.
If You Want to Improve Marks
- Students who have passed Class 12 can appear for improvement exams in up to 5 subjects in the next year's board exam.
- Apply through a CBSE-affiliated school.
- The better of the two scores (original or improvement) is considered in the final marksheet.
- Improvement facility is not available for Class 10.
Re-evaluation and Verification of Marks
If you feel your answer sheet was not evaluated correctly, CBSE offers two options:
1. Verification of Marks
- This is a re-check โ CBSE verifies that all answers have been evaluated and marks are correctly totalled.
- Apply online on the CBSE website within the deadline (usually within 1 week of results).
- Fee: โน500 per subject (subject to change).
2. Obtaining Photocopy of Answer Sheet
- You can request a photocopy of your evaluated answer sheet.
- Apply online within the deadline.
- Fee: โน700 per subject (subject to change).
- After receiving the photocopy, if you find errors, you can apply for re-evaluation.
3. Re-evaluation
- Available only after you have obtained the photocopy and found discrepancies.
- Apply within the stipulated time after receiving the photocopy.
- Fee: โน100 per question (subject to change).
- CBSE will re-evaluate the specific answers you have challenged.
Important: Fees and deadlines are updated each year. Always check the latest circular on cbse.gov.in.
How to Get Your Physical Marksheet and Certificates
- Original marksheet and pass certificate are sent by CBSE to your school.
- Collect them from your school, usually 1โ2 months after results.
